Default Niagara Falls

Anyone know if you take the QEW from Toronto back to the US through Niagara Falls, does it take you past where you can see the falls, or do you need to divert off that road? There are two ways we seem to be able to come home from where we are NE of Toronto - follow the northern edge of the lake up and come down the east side through Syracuse and avoid Toronto traffic, or go back through/around Toronto, through Hamilton and cross at the Falls. My son thought it would be cool to see the falls again, but if it means a ton more traffic to deal with, a longer crossing and not really seeing them anyway without having to divert (I am towing so 40ft plus dolly/truck isn't the shortest thing to maneuver around).

The 401 should be okay through Toronto on a Sunday. The drive to Kingston is very nice and there is old Fort Henry there that is a nice stop. Kingston is a nice city. If you have the time that is the way I would go,

Stephen, no phone available - got a txt mst from Verizon warning of roaming charges in Canada so turned it off.

Anyhow, we aren't going today, we are leaving tomorrow morning sometime, probably 8 or so. Just trying to decide if there will be a decent view of the Falls or not going that way, otherwise I'll just keep heading east and follow the lake to NY that way. Traffic around here is just insane, adding to that pushy and rude drivers and I've about had enough already, and its only been 2 days!

Been there and done that. Love to hear the horns blow, at my age I have come to appreciate the slow route. I can no longer hear the birds singing without my hearing aids, so the car horns supply the music. I will deny this if anyone ask the wife but it's nice on occasion to turn them off and leave them in.

The niagra parkway from port dalouse to fort erie is a great senic ride, and it does follow the river pased niagra falls and the horseshoe falls(way nicer...canadian side). about five mins past the falls it will turn you into a little village, stay left to follow the parkway. Hope your enjoying canada!

Port Dalhousie is 10 miles from the Niagara Parkway
Niagara Parkway or river road runs from the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie it is a 32 mile long park admininstered by the Niagara Parks Commision
in the Village of Queenston they have the Jetboats that go into the Gorge Fun Trip especially the hamilton turn the pilots set he boat onits Jet and spin on its axis then there is the falls all the great pictures are taken from the Canadian side of the river. The lttle village is Chippewa the mouth of the welland river part of the intakes to the AdamBeck hydro electric Stion they pull so much water it actually reversed the flow of the river Nice scenic Drive lots fo monster houses and the niagara river
it is worth the drive
Niagara-on-the-lake has winery tours galore 32 wineries
niagara falls has Clifton hill and 25000 hotel rooms 2 casinos 5 bridges connecting the USA and Canada
