Default It's not a Toad

In August I bought an old triumph just for something to do. Here's a picture of the new dash I just installed. And you fellows thought I was incapable.

John,

When you take on the challenge of curing the "Prince of Darkness" without releasing any of that precious smoke, then I will be impressed.

Just in case you fail replacement smoke is available.

I thought you'd never ask Yes it's a 1965 TR4a IRS and I think it's an original car with only 25,000 miles. Bodies really nice no rust. Resprayed once. The interior was dry rotten and shot but the rest of the car is really sound.

Currently working on the floors and the seats. Again stuff from Moss Motors

I'll have to see if Moss Motors has some of the replacement smoke. They seem to have most anything else I've needed. (At a price)

I am going to be doing some electrical stuff tomorrow. Reconnecting wires up under the dash. I guess if I don't connect a positive wire to a ground wire I should be OK.

Too bad I don't have anyone around to take pictures tomorrow because it would be most interesting to see how a short fat boy gets under the dash on a TR4.
It's a lot like putting on a tight shoe. With seat out my head is under the dash and my legs up over the folded back convertible top. Once I'm in position not too bad (accept I then can't find or reach tools) getting in and out of that position, well you'd have to be there .

What a coincidence! I was upside down under the new dash last night in my '69 Lotus Elan . I haven't hooked the battery yet so I might have an extra bottle of Lucas Smoke if you need it.. Thanks for the Moss Motors hint. I have just been using Ebay. Some parts cross over to Lotus.

What I love about the WOG is we're all sick with the same diseases. Some times it's a bit of misery loves company.

I'd don't know what Moss can do for you on the Lotus cars but I'll tell you Moss has just about anything and everything for Triumph MG and also Miata cars. I've order probably 15 different "things" from Moss carpets, tops, seats covers and all manor of other small parts and they've back order ONE thing to this point. Ship the next day and all things considered the prices are reasonable.

That dash was not a Moss product it was from a specialist that makes wood accent pieces for cars. Anything from MB and BMW to Jags and old British Cars. It wasn't cheap but it absolutely sets off the new seat covers and carpet and top.

John:

Beautiful. That ride was a world class chick magnet back when I was in school and then the army. Never owned one but I did drool about it. Thought about it a time or two, but a young Captain's pay would not support it.
