Default 5.9 cummins and 3060 allison,300HP

I have a 2000 5.9 24 valve cummins engine with a 3060 allison 6 speed tranny with all wiring and computers.
This engine came out of a Coachman diesel pusher with a spartan chassie and i have it in a 1984 dodge pickup.(just a little overkill!)

Buy the package with radiator and Charge air cooler and exhaust for $10,000.
Perfect engine to repower an FC.
Randy 352 538 3435

ENGINE AND TRANNY REDUCED to $7500.

Hey Randy, I dont need that, but I am curious if that is the same engine that is used in Dodge ram pick up trucks? I have a 2007 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins 5.9, and man, that engine is ******* Bullet proof. I have about 280K on it already and I have never touched the engine except for regular oil and all the filters.

Randy -- broadly speaking, how does one accomodate this motor/trans in an FC? The old stuff comes out and then.....what?
Do you put some sort of bracket or adapter in the old mounting holes?

I'm still looking for a re-power for my murdered FC33.

I would LOVE to go this route because the coach was so underpowered before. I can't even leave my home town without going up a 6% grade any direction I go. 300HP would be nice.

Thanks,
Tom

the front frame mount in the bird will be used to mount the cummins, the cummins has a front mount(instead of side mounts) because it came out of a motorhome.
The allison has side mounts like the birds engine, but will be farther back, because the engine is longer.
If your handy,or have some handy friends you can do this at home.
It will require fab work, exhaust work, wiring work.
But everything you need is on the truck, its running /driving and i use it weekly.
You may need a bigger radiator, the truck has a new one,but its for a pickup.
Your Bird rad may work.

Just a note of interest re: the dodge cummins engines....

I was considering purchasing a 1 ton Dodge dually to haul trailers from manufacturers to retailers back a few years ago.
I searched out people who were actively doing that very job. The info was dramatically weighted for the Dodge cummins engine over the Duramax diesel and lowest of the three was the Ford. (both in fuel mileage and lifespan of the engine.)
There were MANY Dodge owners who typically put 1,400,000--1,600,000 kilometers on their machines before they sold them!!! I spoke with a some of them who told me that when they sold their rigs they were still running fine and no engine leaks !!
Now, if you marry an Allison tranny with one of those 5.9 diesels....you really have the best of both worlds.
I would love to have that combo!
