Default Rick Brinks 87 35 FC

Thought I would start a new thread with Ricks coach. I made it here to Rochester, Mn from Mikes' place in Germantown, Wi. Coach and trailer did absolutely- as in Mikes' favorite word- stellar!!
The only improvement, I can think of, is to get 8 mpg, pulling all my stuff. Fella has to dream,

Started demo today. Took up the blue carpet and pad. Another first: it looks like BB used a thinner plywood under the sound deadening material to make the floor flat. So they used 1/2 inch under the mat and 5/8 inch in the balance of the coach. The 1/2 inch has some humps in it and will be addressed on Thurs.

Worked on the humps today. It seems that when the skylite leaked, water got under the rubber mats and instead of rotting the wood, it swelled it in a few places. I cut 1/8 inch wide piece from top of the humps and screwed the sections down. Floor is almost ready for new wood. Rick helped with seat removal and seat belt bracket removal.

Default wood saturation

I thought that since we had the plywood exposed to the air, that it would dry out. Wrong, I was scraping some adhesive residue and the plywood didn't "feel" right. I cut a small piece out and discovered rust, water and mold. So I removed the piece of plywood and my discovery was in the photos:
Remedial action: remove the couch and old flooring to see where we have water encroachment. More on Sat

Plywood removed, rust on floor was scraped and old caulking was removed. We added Kilz on the metal and after that dried some new caulk was applied. It will dry overnight and then new plywood will be installed on Sunday- plus installing the sofa base.

Wow, that's some moldy nasty wood you found and got out of there! How did you cut it out? Looks like you got real close to the edges, did the plywood just happen to end where you needed it to or did you have some fancy kind of saw that got you all the way to the edge?
