Care and Upkeep Let's face it, it has to be done. Have questions of what to do or how to do it, this is the place to talk about it. |

What are these latches called and where can I find replacements? The thought of a failure driving down the road and having the lid of the pod ripped off and sailing across the highway is no bueno.

I replaced mine last year. Got them at the localTrue Value hardware. I also put a nut & bolt through them ( where a padlock would go ) so they can't open while driving. Don't want to deal with padlocks being out in the weather.

Nice, I thought you took a pic of our roof storage pod latches there for a minute. Ours are scary looking too. Thanks Captain Fred.

Napa and auto part stores sell inexpensive rubber hood latches that work well.

I think stainless latches like these would be a good replacement:

I always thought the "butterfly"/"twist to latch" fasteners would look nice. Available zinc coated; powder coated and stainless. Image is from McMaster-Carr but they're available in lots of styles/sizes from many sources.

Yes Dana, that could have been a picture of ours as well. Those are the original rooftop containers that were put on the bus.
