A recent hailstorm has finally taken out the original lid and fan blades on one of the roof vents on my 1974 FC33. Figured it was time to replace both vents. I was looking at the Elixir lighted vents as a possible replacement (jc whitney part # 1JA 150733 ). It says it supports a roof up to 2 9/16 inches thick, which seems to marginally fit the thickness. Anyone have any experience with these or have a better option? Any magic involved in sealing the new vents on the corrugated roof?

Welcome John. When I had to replace the vent in the bathroom I use a Fantastic Fan. Works great but no light. What part of Missouri are you in?

Rick,
I'm in Drexel, MO - about an hour south of K.C. right on the KS/MO border. The Fan-Tastic vents look interesting - the multi-speed/reversible fan might outweigh the lights. Does your 83 have the same corrugated roof? I'm curious about how difficult it will be to seal it up top. Last time I put a vent in was helping my father on the smooth top of a Shasta tt.

I put one of these in after the original gave up the ghost.
No problem with the two roof thickness. Works fine after 3 years so far.

John, I don't know what year the roof change was but my 83 has a smooth steel covered with diamond plate. The diamond plate is cut back enough so the vent seals against the smooth steal. I don't know how your seal would work.

Go with Fantastic Fan's. Not only great vents, but also the best manufacturers support in the business. I just had a motor gear (the splined sleeve) wear out on my 10 year old FF. They sent a new upgraded assembly free of charge. This wasn't the first free fix either, this group has countless Fantastic Fan support stories.....
