I installed a Microair 366 soft starter in one of my A/C's over the weekend and have been doing some testing. Actually it's been running the middle of the 3 A/C's for about 20 hours. It really works great, it smooths out that startup load to not much at all. I am able to run two A/C's together most of the time, but once in a while I will get voltage drop on the inverter output when two A/C's are going at the same time and one decides to start harder than normal. I plan on putting one of these into the other two A/C's so I can just run them when I want, but I had to test it out first.

The Microair board is mounted to the enclosure plate there and wired into the existing PCB and a new start cap is added. Easy peasy.

Hi Andy,

Love the picture attachments but some of your larger "imbedded" pictures aren't fitting on the page properly.

Yeah some of them could be a little smaller. But that's no fun!

I ran the A/C with the soft-start on it for the past 36 hours. It works PERFECTLY. I am actually a little surprised how well it works. The regular A/C will draw 100+ amps (at 48v!) from the battery to start and the modified one just ramps up to about 27 amps and stays there. This is a game-changer if you want to run A/C's on battery power.
