Default Aqua Hot Update

Aqua Hot Whoa is me, A.H. anything can be scary and expensive. Our brain box quit working, it died. Now comes the good part and the work part. First a big thank you to Mike McGaugh and Jim Brookshire. Mike has worked on this for some time. Using common household Honeywell R7284 oil primary controller, Allanson 2275-619 ignition transformer,12 and 120 relays and Jim's diagram. I went to town rebuilding Wabasto motor, replacing some tired wiring and from the pictures mounting my unit on back wall, power supply from curb side 120 outlet. A three day project and everything works great. I realize more questions are coming and with help we should be able to answer.

Jim & Mike's tech session at the rally was great,
I don't own an Aqua Hot, but attended, very informative.

If I read this right someone has figured out a way around the original Aqua Hot main brain/control. Many of us would like to hear more about this if it is a completed project and time tested. If this is a work in process we would like to know that also.

Thank you in advance.

I will try to write something up and post a wiring diagram along with part numbers for the controller and igniter. Might take several days however. Mike might beat me to it, he is the guy that did the work to prove it out. Takes about $200 worth of parts and a little fabrication and wiring. Also, you need a working inverter or 120VAC hookup.

Yes the aqua hot works .as far as parts go ebay has hundreds of 12 volt and 120 volt relays that will work. I used different relay than Mike or Jim used just my preference. When you see Jim's diagram it's a road map , but you can get to the finish many ways. But the Aqua Hot works great.

brad it is a completed project i installed it in my coach in april i think but i have played around with this idea for servile years it was to costly with the digital controls i was using but the new residential /lite comercial control i use now its affordable its a done deal for me i see no reason to not use it in my opinion it's better than the brain box they come with...
i am planning on being at quartzsite az.
if you are there you can check it out

I replaced a gas pool heater brain with a universal for about $75 after the $400 OEM failed twice. Wasn't plug and play, but I learned a lot and it was worth the time.

When I read the title of the thread I was going to propose something.
Cool to see all you guys cleverly innovating and solving problems.

Time marches on with tech and digital solutions are often much better or easier to use and now cheap, too.
