Default Headlights

On my way home last night my headlights went off on I-55. Still had running lights , turn signals etc. Was able to get home with the fog lamps. If I open the outside drivers side fuse box and unplug the headlight wiring harness it clicks and resets the headlamps. Then in a bit it will go out again. This includes daytime headlamps as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Bruce

Sounds like a relay overheating and shutting off to me to me.

Bruce, I'd try it without the daytime running light (DRL) module; simply unplug the module and give the headlamps a try.

Gave up and took it to Detroit. There were 2 corroded wires that were triping the relay. As we were waiting I saw all this antifreeze pouring out from under the generator. Well at last something broke on que! Generator radiator hose broke loose. Assume it was not tightened properly when the generator was replaced.
Thanks for the help.
