Here's hoping you won't need Transaxle's better services in the future! Great to hear they stood up for you.

Closure:

I got a report from Transaxle on the bad transmission. Apparently the O'ring in the center of the front cover of the torque converter was cut. This must have happened when the TC was assembled since it is an internal component.
