Default Cornering lights/turning lights

I try to not drive at night but sometimes i have too.
One night last year i was trying to get into a walmart in a real dark area
and i almost drove into a creek.
The LXI,LX and i thing the 380 and the 450 don't have any cornering lights at all.
The WB's don't have much of a cornering light either,a candle zip tied to the bumper would be better..

So,my quest is to have a cornering light on each side of my LXI.
I was talking with Buck at the LB rally about this and he knew of a time delay relay, the turn signal would activate the relay and turn the lights on.
I think i need a 2nd relay that "makes"when the headlights are on.
The headlights when on ,would power the relay that the turn signal switch would "make" and turn the light on,the delay would keep the lights on until the turn signal switch was returned to neutral.
Buck says we need a diode to stop feed back somewhere,i'm not up on that yet.

So,add a light to the bumper area, add 2 relays and maybe a diode and switch the relays with the headlights and the turn lights that are already in the front bumper area.

THoughts?

For reference, here is a movie of what I did to my pickup.

They are activated by attaching the trigger line of a timed relay to the blinker wire. I control if the cornering lights are on or off with a switch but your idea of using another relay tied to your head lights/running lights sound good too.

I have excellent factory corner lights wired into the turn signal. Have you checked into how the FCs are wired?

By excellent, I mean that if someone is hanging out next to me for too long, they move out when I hit the turn signal and that white light wakes 'em up.

its amazing that the older Birds had good cornering lihts and the newer ones don't have them at all!
I did not loook at the way the FCs are wired, but i suspect they used a PMMI relay system thats obsolete, and maybe complex.
I'm sure nothing has changed in the electronics world in 30 years!

Interesting. I will have to look a little closer at our bird. If it has this feature, I didn't know. If it doesn't, wouldn't mind installing it.

Well ours are not currently connected so that might explain why I didn't know they worked in that manner. Will have the hubby hook them up now! We wondered why they were there....seemed odd. The cornering function makes sense. Thanks!
