some freighters will let you ride. We met a couple once preparing their coach to be loaded
atop the cargo on a ship and then heading to Belize. They said it was $600.

I like the idea of ridding the rails…. it can be done cheaply, and you can meet interesting people along the way!

OK, I've got a question.
We all know Parliament bought and now owns the Wanderlodge name and IP.
Blue Bird is still in the school bus building business.
IF Parliament builds a New Wanderlodge, WILL IT (CAN IT) BE A BLUE BIRD??
Hmmm?

Robert - don't kid yourself. Amtrak is expensive. I paid $475 for round trip coach seats from Atlanta to Charlottesville, Virginia and back. All night trip with the snorers, throat clearers and coughers. Could have flown for less than that, but my bride would have paid another $1,000 in baggage fees on the plane. Also the train stops about 3 blocks from my in laws' house - never mind that it starts about 3 hours from mine. My newspaper column this week concerned an interesting train trip I took over Christmas. Anyone interested in a quick semi-funny read, just let me know. I hate to use up space on the WOG site.

Dave Ward - I suspect Bluebird will not want to let the Bluebird name be used but I'm just guessing.

Default Blue Bird Wanderlodge

Dave, I'm no attorney, but I don't believe they can still call it a "Blue Bird" Wanderlodge. I guess you would have to figure out if they bought rights to "Wanderlodge" or the "Blue Bird Wanderlodge." Of course, naive me is still wondering if they even truly have right to the name- I understand they bought the property at the auction. I wasn't at the auction, but the banckruptcy court would have had to specifically auction off the business name and other business rights- which I'm sure someone who went to the auction will pipe up here. If they did indeed buy all the rights to the company- they better watch out because that means they also take on the responsibility for any liability claims.
There was an interesting story that happened with Boardman Fire Trucks in Oklahoma City. A division of Frieghtliner bought a portion of the company, and even though they weren't building fire trucks anymore, they got sued for an accident that happened with a fire truck the company had made several years before.
