I would like to know how the tire was engaged to turn, how simple it was or how complicate. Never seen anything like that. Chrysler had a park device on the Desoto that would raise it up on wheel jacks and slide it side ways. Never seen one of those either, on the pictures.

Just another example of great ideas that Detroit buried along the way. We see ad's today for hybrids that get an "amazing 42 mpg" WHAT is AMAZING about that!?!?!? Used to get 54 mpg with a VW rabbit in the late 70's....... Someone please tell me why? (ok, I know the answer. Oil lobby doesn't want it..........) When are we going to wake up America?

That was an amazing invention. I'm surprised I had never seen it before. I wonder how the trunk was sealed against debris coming up through the hole the "spare tire" goes up and down in...
