Default 2004 M380, Missing Bose Receiver/Amplifier

The precious owner of our 2004 M380 removed many of the audio components because he was hearing impaired... I am putting the capability back together.

The forward Bose speakers are still in the bus, but the receiver/amplifier is missing.

What series Bose speakers are mounted up high in the front?

Was there a bass speaker somewhere?

What is the proper receiver/amplifier?

Thank you in advance!

I removed all the Bose antique equipment, including the big sub woofer unit under the dining table. I think all the inputs and outputs were routed through the Sima box. I think the Bose speakers are 110v, and probably discontinued. I’m looking for a receiver with a DVR, and replacement speakers. I still have the Bose equipment, but it’s stored in Texas.
BTW, the original system took 6 remotes! The system was an Bose Acoustimass, don’t know which series.
Let us know what you come up with.

What and where is the Sima box?

I may do a complete replacement with a modern system but utilize existing wiring where possible.

The Sima box is still on the very top shelf above the drivers seat in my rig, too lazy to pull it out I guess..

Like Lance, at Q 4 years ago I eliminated nearly all of the obsolete Bose stuff when I set up the TVs. The recessed speakers were kept because I didn’t have anything to replace them (and fill the holes), at that point. One of these days, that project will rise to the top of my to-do list. If you install a new system, I’ll be interested to see the details. As to wiring, WiFi, AppleTV and iPad AV control has come a long way, as has seemless “whole house” control from one electronic device. One of the problems with putting in a “latest & greatest” system is that in short order it becomes obsolete .

6 remotes? I have only one. It's a big one. What did the others do?

I keep the Bose system and moved the sub-woofer, out of the way, to behind the sofa. Sounds great to my 'antique' ears.

Low frequency sounds should be able to escape from behind the sofa, so that should work well. How much room is behind the sofa?

Assuming you have the two sofa layout, I put it behind the one nearest the table. All wires are right there and long enough. I did cut a small frame tube on the back/bottom of the sofa but no big deal. Just an option for you. I imagine you can find those Bose 3-2-1 components cheap and so you are already wired, mounted, no holes to patch, etc. And I think the sound is pretty good.

I forgot about the two sofa layout. We've only got one.
