Default New Day/Night shades

We are going to replace the day/night shades at some point soon. All are original and getting worn, plus one suffered damage during a sudden wind storm. We are currently near Yuma and will be heading North for the summer so it will probably be next snowbird season.

Any recommendations on brand or suppliers?

I see the name mentioned a lot but don"t recall seeing any in person. How do they compare with our pleated blinds? which have lasted well over a long time and work flawlessly. Are they still made?

I just heard not to choose the roller style due them flapping in the wind when either travelling or parked with breezes. Jamming was mentioned also.

Is there a replacement for the original pleated blinds?

My apologies. I misread what you were asking. I was suggesting MCD as a replacement to the original windshield shades. Not sure what would be a good replacement for the day/night window shades. I'm sure someone else will come along with a good recommendation.

The previous owner had MCD Day/Night shades installed in the coach. I love these shades! I have the Electric Windshield type (these have a short vertical cut from the bottom, so the shade falls behind the raised section of the counsel in front of the driver, this way the shade hangs flat when fully down). We also use the the windshield shade as a sun visor.

The rest of the windows have manual pull down Day/Night shades. in the bedroom with both Day shades down it is really hard to see through the bedroom from the outside. The Night shades create complete darkness when they are used.
As for flapping , I believe you may be talking about when the shades bottom bar hits the windows frame. Yes, that does happen, but to minimize the sound I use the self adhesive Velcro. I use the soft section (the side that is not the hook side) cut about 1.5 inches long and attach the Velcro section to the shade bottom bar facing the window frame. This way it is not two hard surfaces hitting one another.
A point made by MCD is (for manual type shades in the bedroom - for these shades are quite long in width) if possible while traveling keep the shades up, so that the weight of the shade does not break the internal latching device, created by the jarring action of heavy bumps. This may be only for the oldest version of the shades, MCD has gone through three revisions and I have not heard of anyone having this problem with newer shades. The previous owner started out with the bedroom set and after a few years purchased the rest, so now you know - how I know!

Thank you very much for all of the information, everybody. There is a MCD dealer near us, I will try to get there soon for a look.

Randy is right. The label on the bottom of our side window shades is United Shade in Elkhart, IN. Check out their website.

Regarding windshield shades, there is also a Canadian outfit AutoMotionShade.com near Toronto. I used them with good success. Incredibly superior to the Blue Bird windshield shades.
