Thank you! I just had exactly the same question! I'm guessing it must be a typo. I re-read that sentence a dozen times trying to make sense out of it.

It's a typo, the idea is to connect the house batteries to the start batteries if the start batteries are dead so you could crank the engine not vice versa.
