Question Should I keep these two Axle Straps?

I recently discovered two Axle Straps in a box shipped through Blue Bird Body Company warranty from Ridewell Corporation directly to the original owner (my father-in-law) on 11-17-2000 (two months after original purchase date).

Just wonderin', anyone know what I'm supposed to do with them?

Search for all the threads on the broken axles for Kev and Dave Stokes. Those straps should be welded onto the tag from what has happened to those guys.

Just my 2 cents. After seeing what happend to Moe and Cynthia's tag axle that broke the welds up in Michigan. I ask them stop by on their way south so the welds could be checked since they had some miles on the passenger side repair. We found another crack starting on the drivers side and repaired it per Ridewell instructions who were great to deal with and quick with answers. (Theirs is a drag tag FYI)

I would have the straps installed per the instructions. I would also have the existing welds inspected for any cracking first.

A wire wheel on a grinder to clean up the welds worked the best and we found a crack that was about an inch long. Would not have seen it without cleaning it up first. We ended up grinding the entire weld out down to base metal before welding it back up with 7018 low hydrogen rod.

Ridewell sent me a print on the straps but do not have them anymore. I would like to get some made and installed for Moe and Cynthia's axle but time was a constraint.

We would love to have a copy of those prints in the WOG files.

Randy.
The file exceeds the size limit. Not sure how to make it work. I can email it to someone that can make it smaller. Also have the drag tag drawing for Moe's 97 LX and the drive axle suspension drawing for my 93 Wide Body from Ridewell too.
