Default Hurricane heater “secondary safety shutoff”

Have any of you M 380 guys ever reset the “secondary safety shutoff” aquastat on the 45XL unit. This is keeping Richard’s fuel pump from running and supplying fuel to his heater. It interrupts the ground for the fuel pump. It apparently tripped when he had coolant level/circulation issues at Quartzsite. We bypassed it while testing and his burner fires immediately and has a good flame for about 5 seconds - it then shuts down because the NEW flame detector installed by the EXPERT at FMCA rally does not indicate a flame. Why one would replace a flame detector when the burner does not even have fuel makes no sense except to generate income for the installer. We would have tried the old detector except of course it was not returned. The problem could be in either the detector or the controller, but the last thing changed is my first choice.

I would like to at least get the safety reset for him, but it appears that the wires run to the back (inexcessable) side of the case.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't help on the location of the aquastat, but how about getting a Nc snap disc and relocate it to an easily (so Richard can do it) spot?

Randy,
The boiler is almost impossible to access without removing the unit from the coach. The ITR manual indicates that you should be able to remove a plug next to the fuel and apparently push a reset button by inserting a rod or screwdriver thru a hole in the case. We just don’t see the hole.

Jim

Never had to use reset. However, here are some pics I took when I rebuilt mine. Hope they help. Glad Richard has an “expert” helping him .

you can see the fuel pump wires, right?
If the huricane was running you could find something hot, right?
Now,all you need is a snap disc!
Just kidding with you,but...

Mike,
The problem is that Richard’s unit does not have the black plug or the hole. Also looks like Van’s doesn’t either.
