Default 90WB water heater not working

Need to pull out water heater and want to replace with an on-demand heater,
is there any other way to get to the heater besides bending over the cubby hole in the back of the electrical panel? I can't fit and neither can my mechanic.
Can I just leave the old heater in and place the on-demand inside my bed frame?
Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks in advance!

If yours is like mine. That back cubby wall does come out. The wall is held in place on the back side with two L-brackets. There is also a long trim board maybe a 1x3 that closet light switches mount to also needs to come out.
Once you get that board out you can gently remove that side wall to give you more room to work.
See if your water heater has a re-set button, maybe it just needs to be pushed.
Good Luck

I'm 6', 250#. Wall removes in closet. I fit in closet. Removed 11 gal, and put in 6 gallon. Mine rusted and started leaking.

Will look for brackets on the closet wall. Need to ask why you replaced the 11 gallon heater with a 6 gallon? Also I am trying to replace the water heater with an on-demand water heater like they use in homes today. Then I don't need to worry about rusting tanks or bad elements.
Thanks for your response.

11 gallon a really tight fit, 6 much easier to install.
6 gives us plenty of hot water.
Both have exactly same heating element, so when turn Genny on to get hot water, takes one half as long to get hot!
Never had issue running out of hot water with the six gallon.
