Default Throttle cable for PT's

I had my 84 PT36 throttle starting to fray. I couldn't see it from the engine hatch as it was the end by the CC5 cylinder.
When I replaced the blower and the air cleaner was removed, the cable came into view and the three strands could be seen.
Found a company (individual) who makes these cables here in Washington.
You send your cable to him and a two day (at most) turnaround.
Operated a speedo business in Portland, OR but taxes were to high so he moved to Scappoose OR. Close to Portland.
I had a 2 foot cable made for a little over $140.
Tried to contact Randy via his website to see if he wanted it for an emergency for one of the birders, but didn't get a reply. Will put it in my roof pod for now.
The company info:

Speedometer Service
Owner--Steve Shaw
326 Dutch Canyon RD
Scappoose, OR 97056
800-634-2145
Speedometerserviceportland.com

Good person to deal with.

Now, THAT is the find of the day for old PT and FC owners! The old Morse cables were nearly impossible to find a replacement for prior to this post. Thanks Bob!

Shane: I thought someone else had also posted about a place that would make a cable? Or was I dreaming? But the more the merrier.

Would be great if one of the BB entrepreneur s would have some made up. I would gladly pay a 40% premium to have a spare. Randy or Birtles?? Or do the speedo shops need the ends from the original cable?

How does your cable attach to the CC-5, was your end crimped or threaded ?

The price I had for just two cables was probably in the $1000s when we bumped the numbers up the price came down significantly. What pushed the price up was custom machine work, setting up the machine and milling the end piece that attached the the rod in the CC-5. I asked for flat sides on the barrel nut to put a wrench on. I tried getting someone to come on board and buy a few cables to bring the cost down further but didn’t have any luck.

Bob's cable end is a heim joint. Checked and find my cable has the ball joint. Not sure about length.

$1000!! That is outrageous. Have you not read in this forum of an owner that had one made for under $200? Push pull cables , even Teflon lined, have lots of applications. Big trucks, many brands of older MH's, race cars and more . There are custom cable mfrs. on the net. I am not familiar with the ends on the Bendix cable but surely something could be adapted. I think they solder the ends or crimp them.

Controls had some parts for the Bendix system

The above thread is all about a custom cable. Very interesting
