Default 3 A/C switches above my left shoulder

In my 1987 PT38, there are 3 AC switches on the panel above my left shoulder. Since I sometimes travel alone and do not have dash air, is there any danger in controlling the AC via these switches. I am running the generator down the road with the front AC on, but it sometimes gets a bit cold. Since I cannot get up to turn off the AC and I do not want to stop and pull over, is there any problem with me just flipping the front AC switch to off?

Basically that is what they are there for, you set the control on the ac unit, when you fire up the genny you can turn on the ac from the driver's seat.

Jerry, I do the same thing. If you get too cold, try running the center A/C instead of the front. The only problem is perhaps running the generator without a load. Can you start and stop the generator while your driving? If so and you don't need it just shut her down until you need the A/C again. You'll save little fuel as well.

Thanks for your help and suggestion about running the center AC verse the front. And yes I believe I can turn the gen on or off as long as I can reach the switch while I am driving. I will need to check this out.

Jerry,

I don't know if your 'Bird is like mine, but my dash airconditioner compressor has been removed, but the airconditioner fans above the windshield are still there and I use them to circulate the roof airconditioners cool air at my face, this works even with just the center airconditioner in use, sometimes I just use the fans to circulate fresh air without the airconditioning.

Thanks John for this tip, it is very helpful. Yes, the fans are still in place even though the dash AC has been removed. I will give it a try.

Hi jerry, my dash air is complete but does not work, i also use my gen and air on the road, i understand the hot and cold theory, I set my front a/c to low and my center a/c to med. When the sun is shining bright on a warm day i may have both on but if clouds appear I can run one or two or none, lots of flexibility.
