Default AZ Hot Birds - White Tanks Rally

White Tank Mountains

Mar 2-4 – White Tank Mountain Hike
Planned by; Kevin & Cheri Vetter

- Located just West of the Valley - You can camp out with us Friday and/or Saturday night. RV camping, tent camping, car camping, or even just for the day will work.
- You can come do the big hike with us (9) miles Saturday morning, Ford Canyon Trail or do your own and check out the short waterfall trail.
- You can skip the hike, just come Saturday afternoon, and stay for dinner and after dinner relaxation. OR You can stay home and miss a great time!

You MUST make reservations now if you’ll be RV camping!

(Note - we do have limited space for tent and car camping with our RV slots)

- We’re in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, Family Campground. Baseball Spring training is starting, and camping slots fill up fast. The Vetters and Putzes already have our slots reserved: #17 and #19.
- If you’re planning on hiking, we leave from the campground at 9:00am sharp Saturday morning. You’ll want to pack a lunch and lots of water.
- We return around 4:00pm and see who’s waiting for us for dinner. There are nice hot showers and flush toilets at the campground. Then we collapse and hope someone will serve us food or drink.

We need a head count for dinner Saturday, and for breakfast Sunday.

- The Putz’s and Vetters’ will provided:
o burgers and all the fixings for dinner.
o Fruit, Danish, and coffee for breakfast.
- Please bring: Your lunch and water for Saturday if you’re hiking
o A side dish and/or munchies to share for Sat. evening
o Whatever you’d like to drink - BYOB
- Any extra wood you have laying around that you’d like to burn in the campfire
- Who’s coming to play with Snuffles and Jr.? Please RSVP so they bring enough food.

For those of you that have not met the Vetter’s you’ll LOVE Snuffles & Jr

They go everywhere with them!

We'll even introduce you to some friendly native wild life! But this time, no petting! hee hee hee

Say "Hello" to my little friend....

Default So it begins.. Building the Nest

It begins.....

Fred & Bobbie are at the White Tanks and snuggled into slot #16. The nest has started, time to get the flock out of here and join him! :-) We'll show up around 3pm if everything goes well.

Before everyone starts pouring in this would be a good time to throw out a word of caution, it is snake season so keep your eyes and ears ALERT!
(cuz we need more Lerts) hee hee hee

It seems a bit strange that people from Indiana would attend this rally, but it sounded like a good time so we made the trip. This seemed to be a rally for bird owners named Dave or Fred so I felt like I fit in.

As usual with bird get togethers, we met up with great people, cool birds, good food, and an experience that made the trip worth while.

Thank you to the Az. Hot Birds for putting up with us.

Default White Tank Rally Update

Hello All,

What a wonderful time we had at the White Tank Mountains. I've posted pics up here on Fred's Bluebirdzoom site. The 9 mile hike went well, the food was great, the company even better! We even had time for open house and many of the SOBs & WOG members alike toured all the coaches.

https://picasaweb.google.com/Bluebir...ksRallyMar2012#

I'm starting to learn all the issues with Rally planning now that I've been exposed to it. I had to deal with Fred Bellows, Fred Hulse, Fred Engel & then Dave Ward, David Spires, and then David Styf.

So basically we had almost everyone named Fred or David so you had a 50% chance of getting the names right. hee hee hee Only had one no-show and later found that Mark & Debbie (97BMC37) had picked up some bug and felt ill all weekend. Hope you two are feeling better!

Special Thanx to all that participated. Was really nice to see David Styf & family show up from Indiana! Fred Engel made some fantastic Dutch oven deserts! Barbara Averyt also surprised us with some home made ice cream to go with the cobler!

Looking forward to many more fun trips with everyone, and Thanx for making this a big success!

I had a great time but am still recouping from the hike. I tagged along behind three ladies and we ended up taking the loooong route and covered 12.5 miles instead of the planned nine.

Ernie, You know Dave is setting a record of attending the most rallies while leaving his bird at home Well I guess it is a good way to save on diesel fuel.

We were just down to Scottsdale to the Arabian horse show a week earlier. We stayed in the McDowell Mountain park over by fountain hills. We had a nice time and the weather was very warm compared to home. We should have stayed a week longer and joined the group.

If there was some sort of rewards program for bird travel like the airline miles or hotel points I accumulate it would be easier. Plus one can't pass up a chance to meet more good people if one happens to be in the neighborhood.
