While you have the coolant drained, I would seriously think about changing the Oil Cooler hoses they are Caterpillar parts, be sure to have your engines Serial and arrangement numbers when getting them from Cat.

Default Oil Cooler Hoses

Great Tip Thank You How about the hose from the ZF, Is that one that needs attention after 25 yrs ? I have not read much about that one in the past. I know the Flange nipple has been an issue on some Birds.

Default fan shroud

The fan shroud did the trick . Cruising at 63mph in 90 degree outside temps the engine ran at 185 most of the time to 195 on the bigger hills . Tranny ran just under 200 most of the time .

I will still add a 3000 cfm electric fan for extra cooling on long steep grades .
