Default Only one half of the coach runs on shore power

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN TRANFERED OVER FROM THE OLD FORUM

Just got a 1982 wanderlodge we are at our camp site
and can get only 1/2 of the coach to run on shore
power. Does any one know what configuration of plug
ins we need to use to light up the full coach. We
have 3 different receptacles on our coach, one facing
inboard, 2 facing rear 2 separate power cords and all
attachments are on shore power 30, have tried all
different combinations with the 2 cords and still can
only get 1/2 of ac receptacales to work. Can any one
help! New Owners :

Mike and LuAnn,
heres the deal as i know it.
the cords and the recept on the coach are color coded, red tape on the cord and
red tape on the recepts go together, the other color is yellow, yellow tape on the
cords,yellow on the recepts.
you didnt say if you have 50 amp service on your site,or 30 amps.
50 amps will have a 4 prong male end that plugs into the pedestal.
30 amps have a 3 prong male plug.
when your plugged into the 50 amps, you need to turn the transfer switch to 50
amps,if plugged into 30 it has to be switched to 30amps.
also, theres a switch in the closet near the bedroom, that witch will say
something like 30amps or?
you may have to switch it off or on.
is this a PT or an FC coach?

Right on Randy.
One thing to mention though, that the transfer switch should not be rotated when
you have load on the system, the ones in the FC model at least. The auto
transfer switches are meant to be load make and break.

Randy,
First of all thank you so much for your prompt reply!
We must have an early version because there is no
color codeing on our cords. We have no 50 amp male
plug so we assume that is not part of this system.
The plug facing inboard does not run anything that we
can find on the bus. The 2 recepticals facing the
rear will each run one half of the bus. So by
switching from one receptical to the other we can run
the reidge and some light sockets by switching to the
other receptical below we can run the hot water,
heaters and some other sockets. By running a cord to
both recepticals on to 2 different sight plugs we
can't get both systems to operate. There in lies the
problem. Both sights 30 amp, both plugs 30 amp, three
prong. But both won't run at the same time. Any
Ideas? Thanks in advance!!!!!

Reset all the breakers , especially the double main feed.
If two lines are being used , one of the cord sets could be defective.
Rotary switch on 30 / 50 amp.
Try the generator and see what works.
Do you have AC meters for each line?????

Here is a description of what you should see in your shoreline power hookups box and also the transfer switch. If you are missing the 50AMP shoreline power cord, which sometimes is called a SNAKE because of its large and heavy size, it may or may not be still available from Bluebird parts, but another place you may try to find one is at http://houstonheavyequipment.com/ they had a wrecked Wanderlodge there that they were selling parts off of, I purchased a part from it a while ago and was very satisfied with what I got, give them a call to see if they have one.
