Thumbs up SWBB and Lonestar Birds joint rally: Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Hi all,

SWBB and the Lonestar Birds are having a joint rally at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta next October 6th thru 10th, 2010....only 5 spots left....to join us and be a part of this fun rally, you must make your reservations now.

Here's what you must do:

1. Call 1 (888) 422-7277 and ask for "Marge" at Extension 122. Tell her you want to reserve a site with the "BLUEBIRD GROUP" in the "VIP East #1" campground; arrival date Wednesday, October 6, 2010; departure date Sunday, October 10, 2009.

2. Confirm your reservation by credit card. You will have to pay your camping fees in full.

3. IMPORTANT!! DO NOT -- REPEAT -- DO NOT make ANY reference to 'Southwest Bluebirds' or 'Lonestar Birds'. Rick Archie advises we are identified ONLY as the "BLUEBIRD GROUP".

4. The phone lines may be busy, so keep trying.

5. SWBB and Lone Star Birds have to track their own attendees, so it is important that you email me as soon as you make your reservation so I can keep the list current.

ALL SITES ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. If you are unable to secure a
site with the group, you have the option to reserve a site in one of the other Fiesta campgrounds.

For anyone who has never been. The Albuquerque Balloon fiesta is quite a sight to see.
At this upcoming Rally we will be parked on the edge of a hill, immediately beside and overlooking a huge field. Most mornings around sunrise hundreds of balloons launch (one time 500 launched!). Some of these balloons participate in a contest which you can watch while sitting in your chair sipping coffee. The contest balloons launch...then drift away and go up...entering an opposite wind direction, allowing them to drift over the field where they drop back down and change direction again to then drop a flag trying to see who can get their flag closest to a spot. Or they actually drift by several 30 ft poles which they stand up with keys to a new car on them or other prizes. Amazing.
In the evening they do a event where they inflate the balloons. Watching all this, from our hilltop perch, was a lot of fun....join us if you can in 2010.
