Is anyone else having problems connecting to the WOG using 4G?
Just spoke with Ron Rueckwald and he hasn't been able to get on the WOG for 6 weeks now. ![]() (know there was a prob w BBB) I, myself have been getting 'unable to connect to the server, may be down for maintainence' messages off and on today when trying to post on the WOG, so thought I should inquire and at least report what is going on. Its not just 4G/mobile that is having issues. Performance has been spotty today using broadband from my house - with some of the same type error messages you have been getting.

Just for clarification, Ron's on 4G and I am at home on Verizon Fios highspeed.
He's not been able to get on for 6 weeks, I'm just having a little spotty problem today too, Jonathan. As far as Ron's problem goes, as he can't get on to post himself, can the sites server handle 4G?

We have been trying to work with Ron, but haven't made much progress. He has a work order in with Verizon but as far as he has told me, he hasn't made much headway with them. Mark our webmaster has given him some things to try and then get back to him, I must be left out of the loop on that last one as I haven't heard any further results, from Ron or Mark.
I have only one issues with getting to and working on WOG using just a Verizon LG 4G LTE USB Modem VL600 on either 3G or 4G and that is if the 3G and 4G signals are similar in strength it occasionally drops my connection, but then it will come right back up again, it even still works on 2G as it did while I was up at the race in Maine recently. My past experience with most companies, like Verizon and the others, is they will be the last to admit that there is a problem on their end.

There is nothing to handle. 4G, albeit a bastardized catch all term used by cell carriers is a wireless tech. The site's server knows / cares nothing about 4G and only sees standard IP traffic. There is no reason for someone to not be able to reach this site for that extended a period of time. Something else is at the cause, though troubleshooting from afar is problematic at best.
By the way, just to confuse matters more, having a phone that states it is 4G and having a provider state they provide 4G does not mean either is true. EDIT: or what John said above ![]()

I am currently on Hughs Net, and it is having troubles with a number of sites that I frequent. Even the old hard line dial up that I used to use is way faster after connection than Hughs Net has been for the last couple of months.

I have a 3g Iphone with a canadian carrier and I get a "network connection was lost" message. So I think the site server is kicking me out.

Troubleshooting requires, at the least, knowledge of what OS, what Firewall, what router, what other services might be running, etc. For an example of complexity http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/33...net-connection Not precisely applicable, but answer ended up buried in unneeded processes running in background. All of which could of been turned on by quite unrelated and innocuous reasons.
