I added a bunch of custom POI databases to my GPS, or in my case GPA app.
Passport America, Walmart/Sams club, Rest areas, even Churches. They are all available at POIFactory.com

Allstays lists a bunch of big stores, rest stops, and overnight parking places with some reviews. I also say stop where you see everyone else at.
