You can certainly overthink this if you have nothing better to do. I will let you know how long my 4 year old batteries last doing it my way. Very often there is more than one way to do things. Lead acid batteries are not unobtainium, ya know.

To keep as much info in this thread, as possible, I'll answer this myself. The generator battery cross connect goes to the house batteries. If you want to start the gen, pressing the momentary gives you power from the house batteries. A permanent on switch would allow the gen batt to be charged from the house battery charging system. You'd need to be sure that the cross connect relay is rated for constant duty. It probably isn't, but I haven't checked.
If you want the engine alternator to charge the gen batts you'd need to press both cross connect relays and have compatible batteries.

My generator aux start dash rocker switch is three position. On. Off or momentary.

I turn it on occasionally under charge to top it off.

Seems like yours is different.

My aux switch that cross connects the engine and house batteries is 3 position, but my generator switch is only 2 position, momentary on and off.

Speaking of switches, I need a 3 position for the generator, and several 2 position on/off spdt. I'd like to match the dash rocker switches that have four raised dots on the top and a sort of curved smile in the center. I've searched here multiple times. Most of the posts are about the smaller panel rocker switches Eaton 160011E.

I found some links to Bluebird suppliers that had the cover for the large dash switches at about $8 each. I forget the cost of the switch body without the cover. Ideally I'd get the original labeled Engine Preheat switch and a 12V Compressor label (or Aux Compressor or 120V Compressor and black out the "0"), but blank switches would be fine and I might get them laser engraved.

Does anyone have a favorite source for those switches? Some of the dash controls for shades and Windshield Wiper have already been replaced with a boat switch that's similar, and I'd love to replace those also.

My source for switches was other members here, generally ones who attended the bankruptcy auction. Probably should post in the wanted section, since they might not be following an M380 thread.

Default M380 Dash Rocker Switches

Have some in my stash purchased several years ago at Q from an M450 owner. They use the same switches. Lots of owners sell stuff at rally’s and that’s another reason to attend Pine Mtn or Q. You never know what you’ll find!

Could turn loose of some singles but prefer to keep the one 3-way. All have lettering. There are model number stickers on them that say Mexico (see pic below). If you could find a current supplier, that’d help everyone.

PM with email if interested.

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep hunting online and see what I can find. As you say, it may be helpful to others and I have to raid your stash of spares (unless I'm desperate)

Pine mountain (which is less than 2 weeks away): https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.c...ad.php?t=29972

I'm not sure if Curt has posted anything about Quartzsite 2019 yet, but it always in the second half of January.

This will be our last Pine Mountain rally, and this past January was probably our last Q rally.
