Default Road Relay warning - Cummins ISL - Fuel Control Valve (pressure regulator)

Anyone changed their fuel rail pressure regulator on the Cummins in the M380?

I had one no-start with the attached warning from Road Relay and thought I'd proactively change the pressure regulator. Seems like the no-start condition from this pressure regulator is common across the Cummins line in doing a little poking around the internet forums.

I also remember there being two different versions of the ISL.

Would this be the right part?

Appreciate the guidance.

Thank you, Doug

The lift pump could be going south, fairly common issue. Have your DW turn on the ignition switch while you’re outside, and listen for the lift pump coming on.

Lance - thank you. Would the lift pump make a different noise / pitch if it is failing? Or are you saying it wouldn't cycle to prime at all?

Its happened only once, but obviously would rather nip in the bud and not fail on the road.

Doug

Your lift pump could be intermittent, or could be leaking, key check is to make sure it runs, should run for 30 secs? to deliver fuel to the fuel pump, I think fuel pressure is regulated by the fuel pump on the ISL 400 with the CAPS system.

You are right that there are 2 versions of the 8.9L ISL (and then there is the newer 9L). The swichover was in 2004, and all M380s have 2002 engines. The later model has a common rail injection system, and we have the CAPS. I think the part you referenced is common rail only.

Guys - thank you.

I've seen where one Monaco owner added a secondary lift pump to run full-time based on mods seen on high performance 5.9 builds.

I also saw some form of recall relating to wiring connectors to the lift pump. Next time I use it, I'll listen for the lift / prime pump and do a rear engine start. And take a look at the wiring.

Hopefully, it is just a fluke.

Thanks again,
Doug

It is easy to hear, and should shut off automatically after (I think) 1 minute.
