Default 11r vs 12r tires

Not seeing this in the forum - wanting to go from 11r 22.5 to 12r....is it ok to use 12r on the front and 11r on the rears? I f not, will 12r fit on the rears without rubbing? thanks,

If you have 7.5" (standard on pre 83/84 I think) wheels, the 12 Rs may not fit. You may need wider wheels to run the 12Rs. Verify this factor first. Pretty sure the 12Rs will fit in the wheel wells.

You are correct Bill. 12R's not recommended for 7.5 wheels....

Yep Best kept secrets, BMC's and Lee had to tell all, Randy let the cat out of the bag telling all about the SP's. The 87,88,89 FC are still a well guarded secret, there are a few on the BuybyeBirdie site.

My 89 FC has the 12R x 22.5 Michelin tires mounted on Alcoa 8.25" polished aluminum wheels.

The late model FC Wanderlodges also incorporated the latest mods including relays for lights, relay for ZF 5HP 500C automatic transmission, relay for Bendix cruise control. Sorry...preaching to choir again.

Easy on fuel too, with the GVW ~ 34,000 lbs.

check the weight rating on the metric size 295R 22.5's, I believe that they are the same as 12R's, but low profile and will fit on the same rim as 11R's

Default confused

I looked and cannot find a size on the wheel, or see a plate near the drivers seat that lists the wheel size. Since they are original, assume they are 7.5". Then I see that 11r's are similar to 295/75, and 275/80. So will either of these fit the rim? Looking for 16 ply H load for steers. Thanks

Firstly Thomas, I would be surprised if your coach came with 7.5" rims rather than 8.25". However I just spoke with my tire man and he assured me that you can put either of those metric tires on a 7.5" rim although an 8.25" is preferred.
You would typically only see 7.5" rims used with 10 R22.5's which would be way too light for a Bird.
Hope this clears it up
