Default Weird Air Pressure Issue

Any help is appreciated here.

When I left Louisiana in March this started.

The pressure builds to normal 120 -130 but doesn't sneeze off.

The pressure drops back and then won't build back to 120 usually only 85 - 90.

Then you stop turn off the engine let it set a minute or two. Crank it back up and it builds to 120 - 130 and cycles as normal for the next 250 or 300 miles.

I have replaced the dryer and the governor and still behaves the same.

I am about 100% sure I am going to mist a little MMO in today and work everything over really well. There is some LOUD popping and groaning when airing up.

1) How much MMO?
2) Regular MMO or for air systems?
3) The troubleshooting guide says the line between the governor and the dryer could be restricted. Anybody ever ran into that? Any good tips for cleaning out a line? Electricians tape maybe? I don't want to get anything caught in it. Maybe blow it out some how with alcohol?

I would like to get this fixed. You never know when it won't start working after a few miles and I don't like the few miles with anything abnormal.

Thanks ahead of time!

Doesn't seem like the compressor would be bad since it works so good most of the time???

Hey Harold and Cat! We are very well! Yes same problem I had when I met you, but the governor and dryer replaced now.

I hope you guys are well! We will be hitting Dallas and Jackson MS soon. Maybe we will get a chance to see you?? Who knows? Plan on CO next year! The summer here beats LA. :-)

George,i was thinking air dryer, but you say its new.
New.or did you have it rebuilt?
also i wonder about the compressor, maybe sticking unloader or maybe sticking reed valves?
weak spring on the reed valves?
We are working on a weak compressor right now here,it pumps up to 90psi and then stalls,we think we have all the air leaks fixed,as many as a bunch of old deaf guys can find anyway.
We plan on pulling the head off the compressor sat.
just to check the reed valves and stuff.

Randy,

The dryer was a reman from NAPA.

Sounds like there is more in the compressor than just the pump. Hmmm. I had eliminated that. I think it would be fairly easy to replace though.

Think MMO will help or hurt?

Assuming these air dryers are desiccant filled, when desiccant gets saturated it breaks down and sends junk thru the air system. This junk fouls ports and valves in regulators.
blow down regulator if possible or dismantle and clean.

We are usually getting from point A to point B Harold, but thanks for the offer and we will keep it in mind.

Thanks Randy! I can't imagine a little will hurt anything. I haven't used any in 3 years.
