I first meet John at one of his favorite camping spots our local Wal Mart. John was parked there for the night. John told me he thought I was a bum looking for a handout we laughed and talked for awhile. he told me the stories of his bird also said he was heading for Eds W, place in Perry than to Wog I told him I would see him there.

We will miss you Mr John Finn R.I.P

John loved racing his Wabbit. Here are a couple of shots from the 2009 Maxton rally.

Posing for the camera.

Suited up and ready to race

Keep your eyes in the road John

John was a character . When I think of John I think of the saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. He was a tough old bird wasn't he? He was patched together with parts just like his beloved BB bus. He like that old bus was pulling a lot of baggage . He really should not have been able to climb those hills that life placed before him and he must have struggled at times. Seems he always got there. When we meet again I can hear John saying with that twinkle in his eye "what took so long". Certainly one thing we know he would not want his friends to be sad. He would want us all to be happy in our life's trip. I'm going to get my bus out on the road this week and take a run (even if it's a short one ) and I'll be thinking our old friend John Finn . Let's all honor his memory by doing what he did. Climb those hills, smell the flowers maybe help another along the way.

I am sorry to hear of this loss. I did not know him other than the forum. He helped a lot of owners with pictures and descriptions. He made WOG the best RV forum on the net.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. I hadn't yet had the opportunity to meet him...wish I had. His pictures, diagrams, etc, have been extremely helpful to me. All that info he's shared will be helping us for years to come...he will never be forgotten!

Wow! I am so sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, I never had the privilege of meeting John but I have always admired him and the work he has done here at WOG. He was quite the character for sure. To be honest, reading all these stories make me even sorrier that I never got to meet him.

Godspeed John and may you rest in peace. WOG will never be the same without him for sure.

Johns replacement kidney was not in the factory position.
I have no idea why but the transplant was placed right behind his belt buckle.

While racing at bonneville the head inspector would buckle you in,he was very adamant about your seat belts being tight,so tight you couls almost not breath.
The inspector would put his foot on the side of the car as he pulled the belts tight.
This treatment would not work for John,it would crush the kidney,so John asked me to talk to the guy.
I got his ear and explained the situation.
He said to me,you strap him in,i agreed.
So i got John in the car and adjusted the belts, john would say, just a little more,ok,a little tighter, and so on until it was just right.
I had to get on my knees to do this, the car is very low.
So i stand up,the inspector looks me in the eyes and says "is he ready"
I said yes sir,its the best we can do,and he waved john off on his run.
That inspector takes his work very seriously,i had never seen him wave off his duties before, but he knew that at Bonneville theres a bunch of old men living the dream, and he was allowing us to live Johns dream.
