Default Do not shift .....again

We just started the coach to go the the lone star bird rally at Marble Falls and got the Do Not Shift message again last time turning off Master switch for a few minutes seemed to do the trick and we have had it out every 10 dYs or so since with no issues. Now that we are ready to go we hit this issue again. Turning off master does not seem to work this time. I read on another post here someone with same issue had a couple of bur Ed out fuses. Where do we find the fuse panel. Or does anyone have any other ideas for us to try.

Hi

You need to replace the speed sensor on the top of the transmission, it is right over the flywheel area. Sorry I don;t have the part number any more as I replaced it on my 86PT 40 when I had it. Same code issue.

Make sure you clean the are really well befre removing as it is usually filthy under there. The sensor sits in a detent of the casting (hole) and is usually filled with debris.

I am sure someone on this board will have a part number for you.

Dan

Thanks got it to work but should look into it further to prevent future issues. Half way to our rally, yea! We will look into replacing sensor I think.

Where exactly is this Marble Falls rally? I'd like to cruise down and meet some Birders. My girl isn't ready to road yet, but I could bike down just for the visit.

Of course. You told me that earlier. I'm glad Brenda is doing okay, and we'll meet soon enough.
