I need to find a source for replacement insulation on the rear wall of the engine compartment of our 1986 PT 40. The original is still there but is crumbling and the heat is intense here in the south in the summer.

I just did my doghouse cover with 1" pink-board and then sprayed the pink and the sides of the doghouse with Sonotrol. It made a huge difference. Rick in Ohio

I have used both, the JC Whitney in the engine doghouse cover and the Dupree insulation in the generator compartment, the Dupree Insulation at that time had a adhesive coating on the back that I also used the 3M spray adhesive on top of. They may have changed the insulation since 2005 but mine is still in there working great, I did use screw and fender washer on the ceiling of the generator compartment to help hold the panel of insulation to the ceiling area after the picture below was taken. ![]() I later added more sound absorbing Auralex foam to quiet things down even more in the generator compartment. David Brady has just completed reinsulating the engine compartment on his 2002 LXI model 'Bird there is most likely even more ideas found in his thread check out; Wanderlodge Owners Group > Mechanic's Corner > Engine > Engine room insulation
