Sitting in my parking lot with blown engine, the meter started @ 18,500. That was 5 years ago. Not counting the exterior renovation, 35k is about where the bleeding stopped.

And Mike, You did all of the work yourself correct? So a wannabee has to consider what he is able and willing to take on himself. My point is only there just isn't a real cheap way to do this. I think the end results are worth the cost but I see a number of fellows thinking they are going to get by with under $20K invested and that is just not very likely. I maintain that the cheapest way is to buy the best you can find unless a fellow is a VERY experienced and I might say gifted mechanic. There are people on the forum that fall into that class no doubt but the experienced needed to get there wasn't cheap either was it? (Mike,Tom, Randy, Woody et all)

Sweat equity was about 10 grand, outsourced cash paid labor about 3k.
