Smile 1969 blue bird wonderlodge speedometer dancing

Hello why is my speedometer dancing?

I put it in transmission as I figured there must be a mechanical gears to drive mechanical speed but wanted to know from old skool people what's the fastest fix for this?

See you tube video. Driving old but d at 55-60mph speedo all over the place.

Lube the cable. Do a search on WOG for "speed cable lube" or similar.

Take the cable out and grease it with lithium white lube. The stuff that comes in a small container, not the spray kind. That usually works with dry cable. Put the grease on while inserting the cable back in. Don't let dirt or anything else get onto the cable while doing this. Don't worry about using too much, just be concerned about using too little.
