My parents are currently in the Fl keys have been down there all week at John Pennekamp, they keep sending me photo's to make me jealous and its working! The fee is $110.00 for 2 people plus $12 for the boat per night. But look how nice it is and how close you are to your boat, I say its worth it!

Official cost is allot less than $110. FL SP’s offer hefty military discounts too. Unfortunately, getting a reservation is much harder than paying for it! Couple who did the write up I mentioned above also did some videos. If you wanna be really jealous, take their 11 min video tour of JP SP here: https://youtu.be/YMlNxxmYYp4 (their bike tour starts at 2:08).

Are you kidding me? Will your parents adopt a middle aged, semi retired, guy with no debt?.

No matter what the cost, it's still cheaper than a motel and it's related items.
Just remember, your sleeping in your own bed every nite and stopping where you feel like.

Many government campgrounds have a maximum of 14 day stays, and some BLM offer a 6 month maximum. Quartzsite is dry camping only w/14 days for $40 and they also have a 6 month permit. They offer water, dump & trash stations in multiple locations. Some BLM land offers free dry camping with no facilities but you have time limits. We have dry camped at a few USFS sites in Montana & South Dakota for free and one in Laredo, TX for $4, if we had the Senior Pass it would have been $2. Our preferences while traveling is to stay at USFS, TVA, COE facilities first, then the State Parks & National Parks before commercial campgrounds, but sometimes you may not have much choice. Our least favorite are rest stops, truck stops & Walmart in that order, Walmart is ok for a few hours but you have to contend with the constant drive by of annoying kids, drunks and once in a while a lot lizard (hooker) knocking on your door. With a little time, effort & research you can find city & county parks, and state & county fairground offering RV stays for cheap. Weekly rates are better than one or two night stays. Other options are Cracker Barrels, Cabelas & Bass Pro Shops that allow over night stays, but always ask management first if it is allowed, sometime there may be a city ordinance prohibiting overnight stays. Overnight stays are a privilege, not a constitutional right so respect their policies and always use good guest etiquette, never pull out the awnings, grill or lower your levelers.
Hey, John. Bookmarked the site and I like your rundown and advice. Even with permission I know I would be very self conscious about an overnight in a commercial parking lot. I couldn’t help thinking that I am sleeping in someone’s front yard.
