Default Connection to WOG times out

A question about the WOG:

I've been bumping into the 'You are not logged in' prompt when I am posting. And it is true, I sometimes try to post when I'm not logged in. But other times when I have logged in, and I've spent long time in the editor composing a message, I hit the button to submit it and there it is again, the 'You are not logged in' message.

I imagine that a timeout period might be set to reduce the opportunity for a hacker to stumble onto an unattended computer connected to the WOG at the public library--like, maybe I was in the middle of posting when I stepped away to look up something at the reference desk.

Am I, in fact, timing out in the editor or something? Is the time-until-timeout a setting I can affect? Or is it just me, thinking I logged in but, in fact, didn't?

A little help, maestro, if you please.

I had the same problem until one day I noticed the little box next to

Remember me

next to unsername in the login box. Check that and it won't log you out.

I want that little box to remember my login name so I don't have to type it every time I visit.

But I do check it sometimes, while wondering why it doesn't remember that I've checked it often enough already, if not this time.

Does it really do the trick? I thought I had decided it didn't help with timeout.

Maybe check your cookies :}

I see a eight of them from the WOG... Including a hash password, last visit, etc...

Make sure cookies are enabled for the WOG

I'm using googoo Chrome for my browser, and you are rrrrrright -- it has an option apropos of this question:
From Chrome help:

Quote:
In the “On startup” section, choose the options below:

Open a New Tab page

Continue where I left off: ... This can save you time from logging into your favorite sites every time after you’ve restarted Chrome.
Recent flapdoodle about privacy and the 'Do Not Track Me' message is probably where I lost the setting for keeping id/pwd hash cookies. I suspect this setting will put the 'remember me' box back in working order the way I like it also.

Good thinking
