It's very important to manage the temperatures of any lithium ions, as people are finding out now. Different chemistries are effected differently, too. Nissan Leaf batteries are not actively heated or cooled, and they seem to have the worst track record in an auto. GM and Tesla have the best setups with active water heating and cooling and a lot better battery life. I wish the lifepo places would integrate some kind of coolant loop. It doesn't take much to keep them cool, but it matters. You also can't charge any of them under 32F, so they need to be warmed up to that temp as well. But nobody uses their RV when it's that cold, do they? lol

Have you read about the Volta systems?
I don't see anything about if their batteries are climate controlled though.

How about this for combustion?

Now,the batteries didn't explode, but if the batteries had been unhooked this coach would not have burned.
This fire was caused by a direct short on a Battery cable.

The girl in the you tube was using a camera with a lith battery, her cell phone has a lith battery too.
I wonder if she knows that?

As a side note,i want to see her battery bay after a year.

Here is some good information on the future of lithium batteries.... I know it is pretty long, but they show the new lithium battery technology will be much more stable and not prone to explosions.

Those interested in Lithiums & Solar will find these two multi-part video threads, from a guy doing a bus conversion, to be worth watching -

Converting and installing Nissan Leaf cells - https://youtu.be/K47NLwHyZng

HUGE solar install - https://youtu.be/S3XHaDTYlYk

It would be nice to have a flat, featureless roof for large amounts of solar panels!
