Jeff,
I have been following all you posts and I think you are more than a rookie, now after all you have done to your coach!!!
Thing I am a little concerned with is; Why do you want to go to a 13.5 KW genset... You have two A/C's, right??? If I am wrong I am sure you will correct me on this...
My BMC has a Powertech 10 KW genset, which will not only power the coach twin A/C's, the block heater, water heater, battery chargers, microwave and supply power to all components that need inside the bus all at the same time and power up the houses next to mine on the block!!!
So I am sure you do not need the 13.5 KW, but, I have been known to be wrong on my assumptions..
I have owned a BB since '06 and know nowhere's what a lot of people on this WOG do, it is a good source of help if you need it, when you need it...

Fortunately the skills I've acquired in my life have made the task a LITTLE easier, however I am still a ROOKIE when it comes to Blue BIRDS and realize there is still much to learn!!!!!!!

I guess the only thing that has really helped in my restoration (prior to knowing all the great people on WOG) (1 1/2 yrs.) of a 1954 40' Richardson Power Cruiser and a 115' twin masted schooner (electrical only)(steel).

GENERATORS----I believe with the input from WOG members on this thread I will buy the isuzu/marathon generator from M&L MOTORS. However, I'm still weaving back and forth on either the 10 KW or the 13.5 KW. If I get the 13.5 then I have spare juice for emergency house power or another AC unit on the trailer when that happens.

OH BOY AM I IN A PICKLE. But hey it's just the little things that drive me crazy. OH, SORRY I ALREADY AM FOR PURCHASING A BB BEFORE I EVER KNEW ABOUT WOG and all the great people on this forum.

Oh, John, you said something about money.

WHERE, I DON'T SEE ANY DOWN UNDER THIS HERE BUS!!!!!!!
But I keep picking up pennies. HOPE----RAINS ALL DAY!!!!

Hello Larry, Thanks for the input!!
I remain HUMBLE--in thinking I know squat about anything. What's the saying--The older I get, the less I really know. There is just so much to learn.
Correction---M&L motors offers a 11 and a 13.5 KW generator.

Same engine, price of the 13.5 KW is just a few hundred more. So there goes the bigger is better saying. Which in this case, may not be true. But at the same time, the energy that these puppies use is astounding. Another consideration, I'd like to put in a (I think their called) buddy plug not just for the house but for another Blue Bird, if the need occurs.

Therefore, the indecision, or should I say confusion in my decision making process.

Correction, 1957 Richardson Power cruiser.

In this instance bigger may be better if it fits into the available space.
Some Birds have 15K & now a 20 is available for the big boys.

Thumbs up Thanks to all, decision made, gen on the way

I really appreciate all the input!!!!!
I've checked all the variables and everything seems to be great, and am popping for a new isuzu/marathon/13.5KW gen. from M&L motors out La.
Should be here in a week.
Now I got get busy removing the Perkins. An rehabbing the entire gen. compartment.
Gotta finish waxing first (Oh yea I've got half the roof and the drive side done).
I'll start a new thread. Cause as with every other project that I have started, I'm sure I'll need more advise/comments/suggestion/etc. as I attempt to tackle another major project that I have NO experience with having done before.

Everyones thoughts/jokes/disgust/etc. are most welcome!!!!!!

My isuzu generator has almost 6,000 hours and purrs like a kitten. Doesn't burn any oil and sips fuel like a Tee-totaling spinster.

I have 3 AC units Never had any issues with not enough power from the 12.5 kW unit.
Don Bartlett and I changed the Bearing and I think it's ready for another 6,000 hours.

I believe you will be pleased with the Isuzu.

Max
