Question Coach Painting...anyone?

Has anyone painted their coach themselves?
(I mean besides our P.O.)

I plan on painting our bird myself and am looking for advise from anyone that has done this already. My hubby tells me I am crazy, but I cannot justify spending $20,000 to have our bus painted.....that's 4x's what we paid for her!

I have painted houses inside and out as well as a variety of other things but haven't done any automotive exterior painting yet.
I found the remainder of the paint our P.O used and it's still in liquid form so I would guess it wasn't too terribly long ago. The roof has peeled pretty good, exposing the steel to the elements...so we will have to paint her before rust sets in and so picky parks will let our older bird in. He used some really good paint but it just doesn't hold up down here in this oven of SW FL.
I want the roof painted white to reflect the heat and the sun's damaging rays and the body will be in a traditional BB style...just haven't picked the colors yet. Right now she is a solid dark bluish grey color.

Search for the thread "Painting an old bird" in the google search bar. Randy just painted one this summer and you can see the results. There are links in the thread to others who have painted their coach.

I naturally tried that first, but all I could find was threads on people recommending painters. I am currently on my work computer...which only allows a small portion of the internet to get thru, so sometimes images do not show up....like any picture Mr. Finn posts, my work computer will not let me view it from his host. Most aggravating.

Here's the link. This was a do it yourself, using a roller paint job. From the pictures, it came out pretty nice. Much better than what it looked like before. I would be proud to be behind the wheel of that coach!

We had a paint/beer/BBQ party one weekend.
The coach looked alot better than when we started,i'm sure yours will turn out better, than ours did.

Other members here have done a brush/roller paint job and they turned out well.

I will be painting the interior as well and redoing the upholstery. The hubby is taking care of all of the mechanics and I am head of the beautification department. Just trying to do my share.

I just got estimates to paint our PT38. The coach $6,000 & $6,400. The upper brown above the alum rail $2,100 & $2,400. This is at Rocky Point, Mexico. They use the good paint products.

Wog has a member that had their PT40 painted March this year for $6.000 at Rocky Point. Looks great. They let you stay in your coach during the painting.

An FC should be less.

Thanks....I am not retired and can't be away for anything more than 3 days at a time, so that option won't work and our bird can't wait another 4 years until I am retired and have the time. Looks like I will be doing it myself...will likely start this winter, when the weather gets a bit more predictable.
