All are welcome. Glad to help out. I really like it too. Much smoother.

Default Alison Reprogram

I went to the local Dartco shop in Anaheim and asked them to reprogram the Jake downshift to 4th to go to 5th instead. They tried but could not. They contacted Alison and Alison sent them a new program with a caution that this could destroy the computer and then require it to be replaced at a coast of $3,000. From what I read this has been done to the same coach as ours, a 95 WB. Does anyone have any more information as to the software description and what was your experience with this change?

United Engines did our 4060 and it was a 10 min tech and laptop procedure. UE is a Allison Service Center. Said it was done all the time.

Cannot provide any details about what version the Allison transmission control software is. I had my preselect changed to 5th gear two years ago and am very pleased with the change, no problems whatsoever. Mine was done at Florida Detroit Diesel Allison, an authorized service center. WW Williams, also an authorized service center, at the 2017 WOG rally did a number of coaches as you can see from this thread. The preselect gear change is an existing software setting change, no new software version was downloaded to my knowledge.

I had to go to an Allison Shop to get mine reprogramed. I had the trans serviced and reprogram at the same time. I did have to wait for a specific tech to be available because the first tech could not get it done on his laptop. It was a 15 minute job and then a test drive to ensure it worked. I went here:
