Default Trans. Check light

My coach has been having body work done for a while now at a nearby shop-- today I heard her run for the first time as they needed to move her around the lot. While they were doing some work (grinding off badly beaten rivets) I got in to finish a small project. As it was still running, in neutral, I noticed the Trans. Check light was on. I flipped the switch, and it blinked a 2 flash - 1 flash, which I take to mean Throttle Position Sensor failure?

The bus moved from A to B on the lot, probably never got out of 1st gear, but it did move. I haven't had a chance to test further, or to turn off and back on. We have had a number of thunderstorms recently (I saw a 99 model with an issue of 2-1 blink because of water in connectors). There was also some welding done on the coach body structure, just to disclose all of the potential red-herrings for this issue.

1986 PT-40 8v92, I believe that means its a 741 transmission (correct me if I'm wrong, anyone)

If it comes on next time I start it up, can anyone give me an idea of where to look for bad connections? Where is the Throttle Position Sensor?

Thanks!

I don’t know what the flash code means, but I do know my trans check light will come on if the trans is shifted from drive to reverse or reverse to drive without passing through neutral. Probably a good possibility this may have happened if someone unfamiliar was moving it.

Mine would flash and shift erratically but only when driving in rain. I did two things which resolved the problem but I do not know which was the cure.

1. Cleaned the big cannon plug on side of trans pan (curbside) and used liberal amount of dielectric grease-wrapped in something? so not exposed to elements.

2. Put a new seal around the front load center door under the driver's window. The brain box for the ATEC Ds under the drawers of the center console between the front seats. The wiring to the ATEC runs through that front load center. I think it was getting wet due to deterioration of the gasket material allowing rain on that wiring.

Note: Did attempt to open the center space outside under the two windshields to look at the ATEC control box but the sealant had the door so stuck I was afraid of breaking something so decided to leave it alone. Problem resolved. I think in your situation with it just sitting in rain # 2 may fix your problem. It's the only electronic thing on the drivetrain so that is good. They did have a good ground while welding right?

Are you certain it is not two numbers, separated by a brief pause?
