Default Xantrex XAR Alternator Regulator

I've got a new project- Xantrex makes an external regulator for turning your ordinary 14V alternator into a 3-stage charger. Has anyone installed this unit on their bird? Would appreciate any tips/suggestions for wiring up a Leece-Neville 2800JB without the internal regulator.

The previous owner installed a Link 2000R controller that manages the inverter/chargers and the alternator output. It seems to be quite satisfactory. It sounds similar to the Xantrex regulator that you describe. Can't tell you how it was wired, up, though.
