Default Something to Watch For --Performance Loss

Removed the four Flexfab silicone rubber flexible connectors on the air induction system to solve a self inflicted problem (...some other time, over drinks) and installed new ones ($17 each). Thought I'd save a couple as spares, so washed them and only then noticed an abrasion that was already through three of the four layers. This would have become a hole and would have reduced the turbo performance to nothing. Picture below. I have no idea what was rubbing on it. The abrasion was on the opposite side of the clamp mechanism, so not that. Maybe under max boost it was ballooning and rubbing on the clamp since it was not a completely straight connection (which has now been rectified).

Ya otta check yours. This was at 70k miles, 15 years old. I'll bring it to RATS.
