Default Horton Fan Clanking John Finn

John,

My Horton fan(or something) is clanking too but not all the time. I too notice it when idling with the fan override engaged. Does yours do it always when it is engaged? Did Horton give you a reason why it sounds like a bucket of bolts rattling around?

Thanks,
David Hollis 84FC35 Springfield,IL

David,

Mine does the same thing under the same conditions as yours, I had the fan still engaged through the override switch from the time of my arrival at the campground four days earlier for the cool down, before shutting off the engine.

The folks at Horton just said that at idle the tumbling bucket of bolts sound was the nature of the beast, but they didn't give a reason why.

I asked Glenn Rodgers a while back if that was a problem with ours, the clanging that is, he said it is wear, but he had never seen one come apart.

Mine was originally stuck in the locked on position, so Randy installed a repair kit in mine and it has done it ever since, although it may get even louder when it is about worn out. You can hear brand new trucks equipped with a Horton fan do the same thing.

Default horton fan

Mine sounds like the fan blades having drops of water hitting them.

That is the fan making that racket! Mine gets loud after a big bump in the road!

I thought it was an electrical short! Never could find anything!

It does sound like a bucket of bolts!
