Default Clamp/hose failure

Water pump hose decided to spring a leak. The clamp cut the hose. Limped to a rest area and called WW Williams to come and fix it. It was the day before Thanksgiving. I was not happy, I just had them service the cooling system.

I am glad you caught that before it became a much bigger problem.

My low coolant alarm first came on the overhead panel. I looked at gages, oil and transmission temps were ok. Then the engine alarm went off. I slowed and kept a close eye on the oil temp, it never went up. I made it to a rest area on I26 mile marker 41. Called for repair.

You know it's not the shops fault right?

I mention how they just serviced the coolant system. I'm guessing you mean a flush and replace with new coolant. Unless you asked them to replace every hose and clamp then any anger is misplaced. Stuff breaks, I feel for you and it's happened to everyone and I hope everything works out for you.

Thank you for posting this and hopefully the community can learn a lesson perhaps. I don't want to come off in the wrong way but I got the impression from your post when you mentioned the shop by name that you were somehow assigning blame for the part failure on them and somehow they should have known and replaced that during the service you mentioned.

I like WW Williams and use them when needed. I also recommend them to others. There is a message in my post, trust no one and verify everything. My main point is I thought my cooling system was in great health, only to be foiled by a wrongly installed clamp. I was fortunate to get to the rest area. A few more miles up the mountains would have meant a tow.

Just to be clear, WW William did make it right and I’m confident in the repair.
