Default 30 Gallons

There are 30 gallons of fuel in the tank of a BMC between the top of the tank and the level of the filler hose that runs from the fuel cap to the tank. How do I know that? Well, you see, the other day when I topped off the tank, I noticed a puddle formed under the bus by time I finished filling it. I didn't remember that happening before, but I put it in my brain and went on to the tire shop to get some tires. By the time the tires were put on, the dripping had made a puddle extending past the BMC. Hard to be stealthy when you leave that big of a mark.

I got home and the fuel continued to drip, so I crawled underneath and saw it was leaking from the hose itself and not just a loose hose clamp. Started siphoning off fuel and filling the tanks of everything I could. 30 gallons. That's when it stopped dripping.

We're headed to Detroit tomorrow, so it's too late to do anything about it now. I'll just have to fill by mileage and stop 30 gallons short.

I've shot over 100 squirrels in the past 1.5 years, but there are always more. They have been taunting me lately by standing in front of something they know I won't shoot at. One of these days I'm gonna fool them.

Sonya (and I) are happy to hear that you are coming to Detroit!.

Rescue Tape is great stuff and may fix but will for sure slow down your leak.
As long as your going to run the bus as soon as you fill it shouldnt be that big a deal.
I am burning alot of fuel this trip as Genny runs all day for AC!

Thanks, but I already have diesel breath. I've got one of those jiggler pumps somewhere but I got tired of looking for it and did it the old fashioned way.

I made the mistake a couple years ago of leaving the fuel cap off after filling up. I noticed it about a mile from the station , but we were in the mountains and couldn't pull over for about five miles. We lost over 20 gallons of diesel on that little boo boo and coated the side of the coach and the jeep with diesel . Man what a mess that was .
