Default BlueFire for iPad, Android & Windows - similar to VMSpc

Did my annual Q Big Tent walk-thru yesterday and saw a product that looks promising (booth is inside the tent, N isle along the wall). Their product is aimed at truckers. However, BlueFire Owner/Developer’s Mark & Mary were at the booth and are excited about the motorhome market. It looks similar to VMSpc and RVDash, but uses a small Bluetooth Data Adapter with no cables, and works with Android, Apple iOS and Windows. Their FREE App can be downloaded from the app stores and the adapters are available via Amazon ($150-$190).

Anyone seen this or have experience using it?

(order direct using “Amazon” promo code and get a longer warranty)

From Amazon: BlueFire 9-Pin J1939/J1708 Bluetooth Data Adapter for Heavy Duty Trucks, Fire Trucks, Motorhomes, School Buses, and More. Supports Apple iOS, Android and Windows 10 BlueFire Apps. Please order the correct version for your vehicle. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CS1HUXI..._aaAsCbBTMR91G

I saw that online too, but I couldn't find any information on if it would work with my old DDEC II. It would be cool to be able to use anything vs being tied to a Windows machine just to get the data.

Mark the owner/developer, was very helpful. Hope to get back down to the Q Big Tent before the show ends on Sun. If you read his BlueFire product description on Amazon, he’s making the source code available to developers. So use with VMSpc might be possible. Someone like DonB or JoeG would be the ones to tell you that. I’m excited about the simplicity & convenience of wirelessly using it with my iPad. Just read that color configuration is part of BF’s latest App. The promise of RVDash looks like it’s about to come true (5 years later ). More to follow...

Default Ordered Direct From BlueFire

Went back to the Big Tent and BlueFire booth was closed. Suppose they sold out and went home! Just ordered their Apple iOS capable $190 green adapter off the BlueFire website. Entered the “Amazon” promo code for 10% off and the total (with shipping & No Tax) was $175.57. Comes with a 30-day satisfaction and 1-year electronics warranty.

Default BlueFire Adapter Arrived, Learning Process Begins

Ordered the Green Apple iOS Licensed BlueFire (BF) Adapter direct from the manufacturers website on Sat and it arrived today. That’s fast service! Just plugged it in, turned ON my iPad’s Bluetooth, activated the BF App and flipped the bus ignition key ON (but didn’t start the engine). The App walked me through the Adapter Setup & Calibration process then as if by magic, it connected showing a “Key ON” message on the default predesigned dash screen. Simple as that! . Is indicating VIN under engine # but that’s to be expected with a circa 2002-2004 J-1708 connector. Now to figure out which gauges I want displayed, which data steams are available and how to best display them according to my preferences. I’ll be borrowing heavily from the VMSpc gang and the detailed IRV2 threads below. The BF developer (MarkF) is participating in the IRV2 threads listed below and several of the posters have submitted great upgrade ideas. It’s exciting to have the supplier directly involved and so responsive to the end users! The second IRV2 thread has detailed info about designing and sharing the Dash Design templates, but it is fairly technical.

If one of our tech savvy WOG’ers has already done some Wanderlodge Dash templates for the BF, please feel free to share them and show off your work! More to follow...

Default BlueFire App Just Updated

For those who recently purchased the BlueFire dongle, the App just had a huge update (on 2/14/2019). Significant additions are listed on the App’s “About Page” by selecting green “What’s New” toggle. Lots of new goodies including Custom dash and gauge Colors, many new Gauge Options and ways to customize the digital & analog displays. As long as you have a port and it has the data stream, it looks like BlueFire can show it the way you desire!

Added: Picture of an initial Night-time screen (using default input values). Haven’t gotten around to doing the second screen with trip data.
