Mr. Finn (As I liked to address him in front of people) was, as Randy stated, truly a friend to the end. My family and I had an ever growing bond with John that started back in 2010 and for the last 4 or 5 years as he has camped out in our driveway for the month of March or longer though we wish it could have been 6 or 7 or...

John became Facebook "buddies" with my wife Michelle and she will miss his interactions and exchange of pictures and updates. She quietly broke out into tears as Randy gave us the news on speaker phone.

Our son Grant felt like a favorite nephew with John picking Grant up from school from time to time or taking him to help out in the store or just chatting about car racing or dirt bikes or subtle things like how to become a better man. John even gave Grant a few driving lessons after he got his learners permit this past spring.

For me, I am very thankful to have made his aquaintance and earn his trust. We had many lighthearted conversations about just about everything under the sun as well as several about the more serious things of life and even death. I enjoyed making him laugh with my off color jokes, dry humor and odd observations about daily life. It was an honor for us to have been a help to him in the midst of his physical struggles. John knew (all to well) that he was living on borrowed time and that everyday was a blessing if he would give each new day a positive go.

Sometimes I would tease him about being the forum moderator telling him a time or two that he was nothing short of the "whipping boy at an adult daycare center" and with that he would just laugh because ya'll were his friends in life and now all the more in death.

As he was getting ready to pull out of here back in May I felt compelled to tell him I loved him to his reply, "I love me too". We had a good chuckle and he gave me a big fatherly hug and words of thanks with a hearty handshake. The handshake is what I think I will miss the most...

Sadly, I do not understand why the world has continued on without taking pause or notice but this I know, my friend John Finn wouldn't really give a hoot anyway. Godspeed Mr. Finn...

Sorry to all you guys who knew him, it’s great to read your stories.

This internet thing is something else, how it brings people together. I never met John Finn, but I read every page of his write up on “Finns Inn” and I spoke to him a bit through the WOG. He taught me a bunch and I never met him.
He will be missed, I’m not sure how the WOG came to be but you guys really built something, more than just a place to figure out problems but a real community and family. It’s good to know he went peacefully sleeping or napping like he seemed to like to do. God bless him.

Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us everyday
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed, and very dear.

Default John Finn

Gladys and I are saddened to hear of John's passing. We have considered him a good friend for many years now and he will be missed. We, the WOG family are all better off to have known him over the years and I especially will always think of him and "Buddy" traveling together and coming up to visit us in our site at each rally we attended together.

Rest in peace my friend,

John and Gladys Stiles

Remember buying some BB decals from Mr.Finn. "And make sure you put them on right with the birds pointing forward ".
Thank you John, because I didn't realize there was a difference.
